Healthcare-related real estate is a general description for real estate that is directly or indirectly related to healthcare services. In the healthcare sector, a distinction is made between sectors 'care' and 'cure'.

De care sector is aimed at care and includes nursing homes and care homes.

De cure sector is aimed at healing. The real estate that falls under this sector can be divided into: first line, second/third line healthcare real estate and private clinics.

Under primary care real estate practices include: general practitioners, dentists and physiotherapists. You do not need a referral for treatment by these healthcare providers.

Hospitals and clinics fall under second- and third-line healthcare real estate. 

During the primary health center healthcare providers work together from one organization or from one common objective always from one building. 

Within a health center the GP is the key in the healthcare network and thus has a central role as a first-line care provider. The GP determines what care is needed and what the patient can do refer to, for example, a in-house specialist or pharmacy. This in particular is the strength of a primary health center and promotes the quality of care.
